Home

Dar Om el Khair is situated in "Haoumet Lazaayez", an area in the old part of Nabeul, a coastal town to the East of Tunis and the handicraft centre of the region.

For generations the property was known as Dar el Arbi, the family home of the Ameurs until Mounira and Taieb returned to Tunisia after many years of residing abroad, bringing back their experiences and souvenirs rich in diversity and culture and transformed the property.

After three years of restoration work Dar el Arbi became Dar Om el Khair in memory of Taieb’s mother, and to keep the souls of past generations alive with the innovative spirit of the generations of today.

It is in this home that we welcome you, and put at your disposition three en-suite bedrooms with garden view, a swimming pool with terrace, a fitness room and a home cinema.Twice a week you have the possibility, if you wish, to discover Nabeulian specialities in a dinner with Mournira and Taieb created by the hostess of the house.

The House

Built in a Moorish design, the property combines harmoniously the use of local and authentic Tunisian materials as well as touches of modern inspiration. The house “Dar Om El Khair” has its own independent entryway. It’s made up of two full suites and one junior suite. All rooms are air-conditioned. The living room has an exquisite oriental style “Pierre Loti”; another sitting room is designed in a modern fashion with a breakfast nook, and a kitchen with a lovely view on the swimming pool. The house boasts of several terraces, a garden, a small fitness area and a home theatre for your private screening.

The two full suites, Elyssa & Ullysse are equipped with a bath tub and shower, respectively. Their high ceilings come in the shape of Arab domes. All suites open on the swimming pool and the garden outside.

The room, Alya, has its own charm and the same amenities as the others. The ceramic tiles that decorate its bathroom match the design of the neighbouring buildings that surround the house.

Leisure

When you stay as a guest at Dar Om el Khair, you are in fact within a stone’s throw from the pottery workshops and just five minutes away from the stone chisellers, the basket weavers, the carpet makers and other craftsmen.

The local weekly market held on a Friday is not far from Dar Om el Khair. Farmers come from neighboring villages to sell their agricultural produce and small traders set up stalls displaying an array of miscellaneous articles ‘made in China’ defying all competition and rubbing elbows with a selection of local handicrafts.

On the touristic road that runs alongside the coast lies the Ancient Roman site of Neapolis where archaeologists have unearthed a large Romano-African house with mosaics still intact. Further along the coast, about 10kms away is the fishing village of Hammamet with its15th century Kasbah built on a fort dating back to the 12thcentury. From the top of the ramparts take in the magnificent view and then lose yourself in time, in the quaint café of the fort overlooking the sea.

At the height of summer, make the most of the concerts and soirées held on warm balmy evenings at the Cultural Centre of Hammamet. And for relaxation, choose from the many spa centres within the area and the water sports available all along the coast.
